The goal is to turn ideas into choices.

Getting an idea to a place where it can be acted upon creates a choice: Do I proceed with this idea or let it go?

There’s a lot that goes into getting an idea to this point. It starts as a flash of insight that builds with excitement, then gets put on the shelf because of self-doubt or poor timing.

But there are those ideas that linger. They fill our minds when we’re on a long drive or they build bit by bit through seemingly random bolts of inspiration.

We don’t act on these ideas immediately because they’re big. They will require a significant shift in the direction of our lives or careers, which requires some risk, and there’s no clear path forward.

But the idea is still there and it won’t leave.

The goal is to turn the idea into a choice. Getting to this point is a success in and of itself. That means you are in a position in life to be able to act on your ideas. Congratulations.

Turning an idea into a choice can be scary. The choice will lead to one of two things - either you’re taking a leap and committing to turn the idea into reality or letting go of it and moving on.

Neither of those is easy.

But getting an idea to the point of choosing is important. The choice creates action. Ideas require action. Choosing to let an idea go is just as important as choosing to act upon it.

Turning an idea into a choice creates more potential - to act on the idea or to free up our minds to come up with better ideas.
