This line has been running through my head for the last eight months. It comes from one of my favorite books that I read this year, The Lion Tracker’s Guide to Life by Boyd Varty.
In the context of the story, as a lion tracker he doesn’t know where he will find the lion but he has a range of skills that will allow him to track, and eventually find, the lion.
I’ve been repeating this line in my head so many times this year because I’m approaching a crossroads. I know that it is time to make some changes and to head in a new direction. I’m just not certain of what the new direction is, exactly.
I tend to hold off on acting upon something until the path is obvious. I’m realizing that this mindset limits my options significantly.
So instead of waiting for the answer to hit me like a bolt of lightning, I’m taking steps to open my options up as broadly as possible so that the new direction will present itself.
I’m working to improve my skill set, learning a few new ones and investing my time in what I enjoy doing to find a new path. It’s about taking small steps in new directions to see where they lead.
I don’t know where I’m going, but I know exactly how to get there.
