3-star reviews are the most valuable to me as a business owner and as a consumer.

People who write 5-star reviews tend to always write 5-star reviews. They’re just nice people who want to say good things. If they don't like something, they’re not writing a review.

1 star people are the same, just on the negative side. Pareto’s Law applies to 1-star reviews: 80% of all 1-star reviews come from the same 20% of the population.

As a business owner, I can learn the most from the 3-star reviews. They usually point out at least one thing that we could improve on and they typically also mention what they did like about the product. There’s some substance to a 3-star that we can learn something from.

As a consumer, I always click on the 3-star review filter. Fans will always give 5’s and haters will always give 1’s. The 3-star people are my people because they took some time to really evaluate and bring a critical eye to the product.

3-star reviews are where the truth resides. Embrace them as a business owner and utilize them as a consumer.
